Taiqing Palace of Laoshan Mountain, the second largest temple of Quanzhen Taoism.

The theme of this route is visiting the historical site, seeking a secluded place and understanding the way of life and nature.

Main scenic spots:

Taiqing Palace: It is the Taoist palace with the longest history and the largest scale of Laoshan Mountain with a history of more than 2100 years. The most valuable tourist attractions of Laoshan Mountain Scenic Area gather here, for example, the religious buildings of Sanguan Palace, Sanqing Palace and Sanhuang Palace, the miraculous ancient trees of cypress of the Ming Dynasty, elm of the Tang Dynasty and Jiangxue, the screen wall which was crossed by the Taoist from Laoshan Mountain and the fairy bridge according to the Taoist legend, the pavilion where Pu Songling wrote stories, etc. Tourists are attracted by its reputation to visit the historical site, seek a secluded place and understand the way of life and nature. It has a long and flourishing culture and history.

Mingxia Cave: It was formed by superimposed rocks. It is the ancestral place of Jinshan Taoism. Qiu Chuji, Hao Taigu, Sun Bu'er, Zhang Sanfeng and Sun Xuanqing used to practice Taoism here. The inscription of "Mingxia Cave, the 3rd year of Da'an reign of the Jin Dynasty (1211) " in the cave was from Qiu Chuji.

Shangqing Palace: Qiu Chuji, Taoist of the Yuan Dynasty lived here and left some inscriptions. The most famous inscriptions are the song poem "Green Jade Cup" and ten seven-word poems. In the main palace was served the Jade Emperor (the supreme deity of Taoism), so it is called "Yuhuang Palace". The cenotaph of Qiu Chuji is situated at about 250m in front of the palace, named the Tomb of Patriarch Qiu before.

Dragon Pond Waterfall: It is formed by eight streams which converge to form the Bashui River. The river water falls from the high cliff to form the waterfall. The rapid torrential rushes out of the cliff and flies in the sky, just like a white dragon flying out of the cloud and diving into the pond, so it was named the "Dragon Pond Waterfall".

You can drive off the Qingdao-Yinchuan Expressway from the exit of Qingdao East, go in the direction of Shazikou till the Laoshan Mountain Tourist Service Center, then take the sightseeing bus to get into the scenic area;

You can take No.113 or No.304 bus to the Laoshan Mountain Tourist Service Center, then take the sightseeing bus to get into the scenic area.

Tourist route:

Bashui River – Shangqing Palace – Mingxia Cave – Taiqing Palace. The tour takes about 3 hours.

There are three scenic areas in Taiqing Scenic Spot: Bashui River area, Taiqing Palace area, marine tour area.

Bashui River area is a route for mountain climbing. Tourists go up along the Bashui River, admire the Dragon Pond Waterfall, visit the millennial Shangqing Palace, then cross the forests and climb the mountain along the zigzag alley to reach the top where is situated the famous Taoism Temple: Mingxia Cave. The whole journey takes 1 hour or 1.5 hours. If you feel tired, you can climb to the Dragon Pond Waterfall or the Shangqing Palace and then return by the way you came. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the Dragon Pond Waterfall. You can also reach the Mingxia Cave by ropeway.

Taiqing Palace is located at the seaside, so the tour is easier and takes about 20 minutes.

If interested, tourists can also admire the mountain and sea landscape of Laoshan Mountain by yacht.

PS: The attractions such as Head of Laoshan, Eight Immortals Rock and Ship Stone can only be admired by yacht.
