Qingdao International Beer Festival
Qingdao International Beer Festival is a state-level large-scale festival with unique local characteristics. Organized for the first time in 1991, the festival is an annual event that is now in its twelfth year. During the festival, a series of cultural and trade activities will be arranged, including an opening ceremony, large-scale folk art performances, beer drinking contests, artistic float parades, entertainment, economic and trade talks, and a closing ceremony. After more than a decade’s development, the festival has become a jamboree for the citizens, and a beautiful card for the city and is now known to more and more people worldwide.
As the largest beer festival in Asia, millions of domestic and foreign visitors come to take part each year. Last year, the total participants surpassed 2 million, and the total beer consumption reached 520,000 liters (tons), hitting an all-time high.
Laoshan Tourism Culture Festival
Held annually in the end of April, the festival lasts over one month, includingthe tea festival, cherry festival, flower festival and a series of activities concerning sightseeing, trade and economy.
Qingdao Beizhai Cherry Festival
It started to hold in 1996 and is held in every May. Mt. Laoshan in May is very beautiful. The Cherry Festival is held by Laoshan District Government, Qingdao Tourism Bureau and Qingdao Laoshan Scenic Area Administration Committee. It advocates biological tour and fitness tour and combines leisure, holiday, sightseeing, folk-custom and trade negotiation in one. The festival offers a beautiful natural place for people to relax and trade.
Visiting farmhouse, tasting cherry, viewing scenic spots and appreciating folk-custom are so interesting. There are 14 gardens open to tourists. Here you can enjoy farmer dinner, sleep in heated kang, walk on rural path, enjoy farmer’s life and have a good relaxation.
Kutao Flower Festival
first held from 28 May – 2 June, 2004, over 1000 rare and valuable pot flowers, bonsai and root sculptures were exhibited. The festival lured more than 10 famous domestic flower companies and 240,000 visitors, with trade volumes reaching ¥6 millions.
Laoshan Tea Festival
promoted in April, 2004, the festival, with tea as the intermedia, contains a series of activities concerning sightseeing, trade and economy, inclusive of
sightseeing and plucking at tea garden, tea shows, competitions of tea making, appraisal of quality tea, art performances, model contests, photo shows and fireworks night, etc. about 200,000 people attended the first festival, direct trade volume reached ¥160 thousand, and indirect income ¥3 millions.
Qingdao International Fashion Week
From 2001 till today, China (Qingdao) International Fashion Week has been successfully staged five times in succession. During the time, many special release conferences have been held by 100 fashion designers from more than 10 countries and regions, including China, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Taiwan and Hong Kong etc., up to 225 fashion rising stars have been in for 9 assorted fashion design contests，and 150 fashion brands were popularized based on the platform set up by the Fashion Week. In addition, over 500 Chinese and foreign fashion models have made their shows at the Week, and 600 Chinese and foreign reporters came to publicize and cover the event from first to last.
China (Qingdao) International Fashion Week, which is oriented towards “the Cradle of Future Fashion Design Masters” and “the Birthplace of New Promising Fashion Brands”, will be held annually in September since the year of 2006. Currently, some 300 mode editors, reporters and over 20 model performance companies are enrolled with it. In terms of internationalized operation standard and event scale, and in concert with Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong Fashion Weeks, China (Qingdao) International Fashion Week will guide the vogue trend of Asia together with the Fashion Weeks in Seoul and Tokyo.
China International Electronics and Household Appliances Expo
China International Electronics and Household Appliances Expo is the sole state-level specialized grand event approved by the State Council to be held in Qingdao, a city known for its electronics and household appliance industry, and the place where the sails will be set up during the 2008 olympics.
